Sharing Leicester's Sporting Life
On Monday 21 February 2011 BBC Leicester is inviting you
to bring along your sporting artefacts to be recorded at a special
event at Curve theatre.
This is your chance to share your memories of sporting
Leicestershire and help reflect the rich heritage of the county's
diverse achievements on field, track and road.
Whether your thing is boxing, cycling, rowing or karate; we want
to know the stories behind your old photos, ticket stubs, and
medals.
From 1100 to 1600 GMT, volunteers will be on hand to help you
scan photos, record your memories and submit them to a national
online database.
The event is tied to 'Our Sporting Life' exhibition, at Curve
until 11 March 2011, which highlights some of the ways sport has
shaped the county, its communities and people.
Gareth Hughes, one of the organisers,
said: "What we've sort to achieve is to identify Leicester's unique
place within sporting history, as well as some of the modern day
heroes and sporting events that take place throughout
Leicester."
If you cannot make the event on 21 February, you can still
submit your memories on this website go to the 'Share your Story
tab and follow the links.
